Dental Veneers
Self-conscious about your teeth? Discolored, misshapen, or broken teeth can have a significant impact on how you interact with others, affecting both your professional and personal life. Smile imperfections like chips, cracks, or discoloration do not have to require invasive oral surgery. Sometimes, cosmetic dentistry options like dental veneers can be a simple yet effective solution to restoring smile aesthetics and function. The specialists at Kluth-Richardson Family & Cosmetic Dentistry are proud to help our patients improve their smile and their confidence with dental veneers.
Why Choose Dental Veneers?
Veneers are thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile, essentially covering up the surface of your real teeth.
Dental veneers are an easy way to create a uniform, white smile. While there are some stains that bleaching or teeth whitening can’t resolve, veneers simply cover them up, making veneers a better option for some patients.
Since you are covering your teeth, other cosmetic issues also disappear behind the veneers. With proper care veneers last for many years, so you will have a gorgeous smile for a long time.
What Can I Expect When Getting Veneers?
The process of getting veneers is relatively simple and usually requires only two visits to the offices of Kluth-Richardson Family & Cosmetic Dentistry. In the first visit, our doctors will consult with you on your desired result including the size and color of your veneers. Because veneers can be placed over individual teeth or all teeth, they can mask any teeth you want to hide. Different veneer shapes are available to fill in gaps or give shape to smaller teeth. Your dental veneers can also be customized to match your other teeth, so you are encouraged to take an active role in the decision-making process concerning shade and shape to ensure you get the smile you want.
After determining the size and color of your veneers, we then prepare your teeth by buffing and shaping the surface so that the veneer can adhere properly. Finally, we will take a mold of your teeth so that we can properly prepare the veneers.
In the second visit, our specialists will apply the veneers to your teeth with bonding cement, which is hardened using a dental curing light. After your visit, you will be given special instructions on how to care for your new veneers, including a list of foods and/or habits to avoid. You may also need a night guard if you grind your teeth at night. You will care for your veneers just as you would your natural teeth. A simple care routine of brushing and flossing paired with regular dental visits to our offices will ensure your veneers stay looking great for years to come and provide the longest life span.
